Christmas

I hope everyone had an amazing Christmas party!  I know I look forward to it every year as a teacher and parent.  This year we had an elf themed party in my classroom.  We had three stations at our Christmas party.  We made elf hats and collars, Christmas tree treats, and an adorable ornament.
Who doesn't love the combination of pajama & Christmas party day?  These little guys are mine.  They are ready in their matching Mario pj's and robes.
Making elf hats & collars.
Yup they are cool in their hats!
Here is a picture of the front of their ornament.  The ornament is a piece of wood pained white, then we used modge podge to glue christmas paper, school pictures, and student names.
Here is a view of the back of the ornament.  It is a Christmas wish list for 2013.  The top of the ornament has Christmas ribbon and a cute little bell.  They turned out really cute and will last for a long time to come.
Decorating Christmas trees with icing and goodies.

To end the party Santa Claus stopped by and asked each student what they wanted for Christmas.
I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas this year.  May you be blessed in the coming year.  I know I have been blessed with an amazing family, co-workers, friends, and God.

Pete the Cat

Who doesn't love some Pete the Cat?  I know the kindergarteners and teachers at our school certainly do! The kindergarteners in our school had an AMAZING literacy night.  They read-sang a few of his books. And boy did we have fun with my little kindergarten guy!

This is one of our kindergarten teachers.  She rocked the microphone!
The little guy with a tie is my baby.  He was so stinking adorable!
Here's a pic of the k teachers talking about the standards the Pete the Cat books cover.  Pete was also standing there with his groovy buttons.
And here is my little guy with his teacher at the end of the program.

Binder Love

Binder Love

We love, love, love our binders in first grade! I wanted to share some pictures of our binders, as well as share ideas on how we use them.

When you open the binder I have stickers with the hundreds number chart, manuscript alphabet, as well as a class list.  Inside the pencil pouch is a place to keep pencils, erasers, as well as a communication spot between the teacher and parents.  We also use it as a place to send any lunch money, permission slips, etc.
The first page is where you will find our classroom newsletter.  The newsletter stays here all the time.  It can be used as a reference throughout the week.  My newsletter is available on tpt if you are interested.
The next page has a list of Fry's first 100 words.  We use these words in first grade as our word wall words for the year.  Later in the year we will begin spelling words in addition to our word wall words.
The next page contains flashcards with word wall words.  I put them inside baseball card holders.  The word wall words get changed throughout the year by one of my amazing volunteers!
The following pages contain a morning work section.  It has various pages that contain math problems that are tied to first grade common core.
Our school has a Thursday Folder.  It is a communication folder that goes home on Thursdays.  It holds the students weekly work, as well as any other fliers that need to go home from the school or our community.
Last, but not least is a homework folder.  The sent home a packet of weekly homework.  It goes home on Thursday, and students have a week to return their homework.

Our binders received a facelift a couple of weeks ago.  I created a new cover page as well as a name spot for the spine of their binder.  I don't have a picture of that, but I do have a link to it on tpt.  My product has many of these goodies that you saw on the pictures.  I have my students' desk in groups.  Beside each group is a small book shelf.  This is where each group keeps their binders everyday.  It is a perfect spot to house their binders.  Below is a link, or you can click on the right side under the tpt section.
