Animal foldables

We went to the zoo last week. This was one last animal activity to end our animal study. I'll add a link later for a free copy on tpt.

I Pad Case & Soccer

Well this post has absolutely nothing to do with school . . . But here it goes anyways!  This is what I have been up to.  Lots and lots of soccer on the weekends.
My youngest little guy.  So stinking adorable!  I love this picture.  I don't even remember what he was crying about!

Daddy & Elijah.
Super proud of my oldest son.  He played great!
Well my kids ruined my ipad case. I was super bummed and was going to buy another one, but then thought, "Heck I can make one myself!" And so I did.  I began by buying a large mailing envelope.  I put my ipad in it and cut the envelope.

This is the material and ribbon I bought at Hobby Lobby.  I recommend buying thick material, so that you can't see through the material.
I cut the canvas into a 20" X 10 1/2" piece.  then I inserted it into the evelope and hot glued it.

 Then I cut the chevron material into a 15" X 32" piece.
Then I hot glued that piece to the envelope.
Afterwards I hot glued the ribbon where the material met up, just to give it a good finish.
Then I added a couple of pink buttons.
And the string to wrap around the buttons to secure the ipad.

And here is the finished product.  I love it!  Msg me if you have any questions.

Animal Fun

Checking out a real ostrich egg and some abandoned nests (disclaimer: no birds were harmed or lost their homes) after reading some non-fiction books. Making those connections!

Patriot's Day

Patriot's Day

My husband and I went on vacation to NYC about three years ago.   We toured the many famous sights and even catched a broadway show.  We had a FABULOUS time!

Our hotel was directly across the street from ground zero. When we went the memorial hadn't been constructed yet.  It was still under construction.  I remember my husband and I looking at the sight for what seemed like forever!  Here are a few pictures of the sight and different things at the small museum they used to use.

Some items found at ground zero.

The view from our hotel room window.  This is where the current memorial is.  This is a photo when it was still under construction.

Another picture of the the view from our window.

A closer view of Ground Zero.

September 11th will always hold a special spot in my heart.  Of course everyone remembers where they were on that day.  I remember coming home from my ultrasound apppointment.  I was so excited because we were going to have a girl!  Below is a picture of one of the books I bought while I was in NYC. I read Fireboat to my first grade students.  It is an appropriate book for an introduction to the meaning behind 9-11.

You can buy it on the Amazon website.  That is where I got the image.

After I read them the book we worked on an writing prompt about being patriotic, and made a little flag craft made out of tissue paper.

Writing about being a Patriot.
Here is a phot of an old newspaper one of my friends brough to school.
A small view of my bulletin board.

On a lighter note one of the classroom positive reinforcement tools that I use is a marbel jar.  We reached our second goal of 50 marbles and celebrated by having an "Ice Skating & Snowball Fight Party." (we took our shoes off and skated on them, crumbled paper and threw it at each other)  I think I got the most snowball thrown at me!

I didn't have my camera when we did our snow fun, so I had a few students reinact a little. They really got into it!

My family has been in full back to school, and all the fun fall things that come with this time of year! My daughter made it on the cheerleading team! :)  My son is busy, busy on a traveling soccer team, and my two little boys are also playing on a soccer team.  We have bought our pumpkins, made a trip to the apple orchard, and I made an apple pie from scratch.  One of the other first grade teachers is the best cook and is very generous to share her recipes with me!

My daughter cheering for the first time!  I am one proud momma!

Apples for sale at the orchard.

My little boys posing by the pumpkins.

My apple loot!  I am taking 1/2 of a bushel to school tomorrow to introduce my apple unit.  I can't wait!
And last but not least, a picture of my big boy carrying my apple bag at the apple orchard.
