I'm linking up once again with Doodle Bus.
1.
Well, Here it is again. The week is over. Sigh. We have had a very busy week at school! A few weeks ago we read Flat Stanely. If you haven't read the book, it's a must read. A boy in the story becomes flat, and has many adventures adjusting to being flat. In one of his adventures he gets mailed to California in an envelope. Students in my class drew themselves, and we mailed them. Here are a few pics of some of the things we received in the mail from their different adventures around our country.
Can you guess where the Hershey's box came from? |
The Flat Stanley projects are so much fun! In our classroom we love receiving mail! One of the standards we meet with our Flat Stanley unit is geography. We always use the map to show students where their flat person traveled. This is our second year doing a Flat Stanley unit, and it is a lot of fun.

Family Night
A few weeks ago we began having a family night once a week. My husband and I decided to plan one day of the week that we carved time to stop whatever it is that we may be doing, and just do things together as a family. We decided to assign each week with something different. We came up with four categories.
1. Movie Night
2. Craft Night
3. Board Game Night &
4. Physical Activity Night
The first week we had craft week and created chore clipboards. (It wasn't a big hit as a craft, but the chore clipboard has helped immensely!) For movie night we watched Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2. We play Pictionary for our board game night. It was very humorous to see some of the pictures everyone drew. I must say, my little guys learned a few new vocab words from the cards. My littlest guy ended with making a couple of puzzles. He had the great idea of putting the space puzzle on top of the word puzzle. Too cute! I think we are planning on going to an indoor pool for the physical activity night. It's still too cold here to do anything else!
3. Ace . . .
This is our accidental pet cat. It's a long story about how he came about. I will share the short version.
I did it. I fed a stray cat. BIG mistake. I'm not a pet person, and my husband warned me not to feed him, but I did. We decided to keep putting food out for him. A week later my oldest son noticed that something was wrong with his leg. So my husband took him to the vet. That's when we found out that someone had shot his leg. It's still a mystery to us. We have no idea who did it. And not only was his leg not just broken, but his bone was shattered. So we had to make a decision to either amputate his leg or put him to sleep.
So here we are, a year later with our pet Ace. Yes, we decided to amputate his leg. And because he only has three legs, it wasn't safe for him to be an outside cat. So that's the story of our three legged cat, Ace. And he has THE life now. Can you tell. My husband told me to go take a look at him last night. My children had a pillow and blanket set up for him on the couch. And there he was just sleeping away! I think him losing his leg is the best thing that could have happened to him. My children absolutely spoil him.

Son of God
5. Last, but not least the Indiana Pacer's mascot named Boomer came to our school this week. It was hilarious & fun. Hands down one of the best special events that has happened at our school. Here are a ton of pictures. Some are not that great because I didn't change my lens. (Sorry) He had a great message about working hard in school.
